What is coaching?

Coaching is a collaborative, solution-focused and result-oriented process in which the coach partners with a client to help them to achieve goals, maximise potential, to engage in self directed learning, achieve personal growth and build fresh new perspectives. Professional coaching focuses on setting goals, creating outcomes and managing personal change.

Your coach will:

• Discover, clarify, and align with what the client wants to achieve
• Encourage client self-discovery
• Elicit client-generated solutions and strategies
• Hold the client responsible and accountable

What will be expected of me?

In between sessions, your coach may ask you to complete specific action steps, which you will identify during your coaching sessions, which will support you in achieving your goals. To gain the most benefit from coaching, it’s important to prepare for your sessions by having completed homework tasks or action steps, and by reflecting regularly on your progress.
Your coach is here to challenge you to reach your fullest potential, so please arrive to sessions with an openness to new perspectives.

How is coaching delivered?

The first session will typically begin with a discussion to assess your needs, goals, current challenges and opportunities. The sessions will be client led, with the coaching asking questions to encourage you to build your insight and personal growth.
The coach will administer assessments in the first session. The assessment tools will provide objective information to develop a greater understanding of your strengths, and to facilitate self-awareness.
During the sessions, the coach will use a variety of concepts, models and principles, drawn from the fields of psychology and the behavioural sciences and management literature. Such tools will be incorporated into the coaching sessions to encourage shifts in your perspective, build insight, better understand the relationship between your thoughts, feelings and behaviours and to provide new frameworks for viewing situations.

What is Mediation?

Mediation is a process which involves people in dispute talking to one another about their conflict and, with the assistance of a neutral mediator, working towards a mutually satisfactory solution. It asks people to think about the needs and interests of each of the people involved in a conflict so that solutions can be found to meet those needs and interests.  The role of the mediator is to facilitate open communication between both parties to help them reach solutions they can live with.  The role of the mediator is not to impose solutions or pass judgement.
